    Hyundai CRETA Electric Review: Electric SUV with Long Range, Fast Charging and Smart Features

    The Hyundai CRETA Electric is the electric version of Hyundai’s popular CRETA SUV. Based on the official Hyundai CRETA Electric brochure, this SUV has been designed for customers who want the familiar CRETA identity with electric performance, modern technology and a practical driving range.

    The brochure presents the CRETA Electric with the message “Electric is now CRETA.” It offers two battery pack options, up to 473 km driving range per full charge, fast DC charging, Level 2 ADAS, connected features, V2L functionality and a premium cabin experience.

    Exterior Design

    The Hyundai CRETA Electric keeps the strong SUV stance of the CRETA family but adds EV-specific design elements. It gets a pixelated graphic front grille, pixelated graphic front and rear bumper and a charging port with multi-colour surround light and state-of-charge indicator.

    Other exterior highlights include LED headlamps and tail lamps, LED sequential turn indicators, active air flaps, R17 aero alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tyres, puddle lamps with H logo projection and welcome function, and a bold SUV body profile.

    These design elements help the CRETA Electric look clean, futuristic and distinct from the regular ICE CRETA.

    Battery, Range and Performance

    The CRETA Electric is available with two battery pack options: 42 kWh and long-range 51.4 kWh. The 42 kWh version produces 99 kW, equal to 135 PS. The long-range 51.4 kWh version produces 126 kW, equal to 171 PS.

    As per the brochure, the 42 kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 390 km as per MIDC Part 1 + Part 2 cycle. The 51.4 kWh long-range battery pack offers a driving range of up to 473 km per full charge under certified conditions.

    The brochure also mentions 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 7.9 seconds for the 51.4 kWh battery pack under HMIL internal testing conditions. The SUV gets drive mode select with Normal, Eco and Sport modes.

    Charging Options

    The Hyundai CRETA Electric supports both AC and DC charging. According to the brochure, AC fast charging from 10% to 100% using an 11 kW AC fast charger takes 4 hours for the 42 kWh battery pack and 4 hours 50 minutes for the 51.4 kWh battery pack.

    DC fast charging from 10% to 80% using a 50 kW DC fast charger takes 58 minutes. Charging time can vary depending on charger specification, ambient temperature, high voltage battery condition and power supply.

    Charging highlights: 11 kW AC fast charging, portable charging cable, Hyundai DC charging station support and 50 kW DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes.

    Interior and Cabin Comfort

    The cabin of the Hyundai CRETA Electric is designed around comfort and technology. It gets a dual-tone granite grey with dark navy interior, floating console and soothing ocean blue ambient light. The SUV also offers dual curvilinear 26.03 cm screens for infotainment and cluster.

    The 3-spoke EV unique steering wheel carries morse code “H” for Hyundai. The cabin also uses eco-friendly seat upholstery with CRETA Electric branding. The brochure mentions recycled PET bottles and corn extract as part of the eco-friendly material approach.

    Comfort features include front armrest with cooled storage, rear AC vents with Type-C USB ports, rear window sunshade, rear seat armrest with cupholders, 60:40 split rear seat, 2-step rear reclining seat and LED luggage lamp.

    Premium Features

    Higher variants of the CRETA Electric offer 8-way powered driver and passenger seats, powered driver memory seat with welcome retract, powered passenger seat walk-in device and front ventilated seats for driver and passenger.

    The SUV also offers a 22-litre frunk, foldable seatback table with IT device holder and retractable cupholder, voice-enabled smart panoramic sunroof, dual zone automatic temperature control with touch function and smartphone wireless charger.

    Technology and Connectivity

    The Hyundai CRETA Electric is equipped with several advanced technology features. It gets Hyundai Bluelink with over 70 connected car features, Home-to-Car with Alexa, JioSaavn music streaming, in-car payment and over-the-air updates for map and infotainment.

    The brochure also lists 268 embedded voice commands and 132 Hindi voice commands. Digital Key is available in selected variant, allowing compatible smartphone or smartwatch access.

    A major EV-specific feature is Vehicle-to-Load, or V2L. It allows users to power appliances inside and outside the car. The brochure notes that the outside V2L gun is available as a payable accessory.

    Safety Features

    Safety is a major highlight of the Hyundai CRETA Electric. The brochure mentions 52 standard safety features, more than 75 advanced safety features and 6 airbags as standard.

    Key safety features include ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-start Assist Control, Hill Descent Control, all-wheel disc brakes, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System highline and Electric Parking Brake with auto hold.

    Other safety features include ECM IRVM, automatic headlamps, driver anchor pretensioner, 3-point seatbelt and seatbelt reminder for all seats, rain-sensing wipers, VESS and ISOFIX child seat anchor.

    Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS

    The CRETA Electric offers Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS with 19 features in selected variants. These include Forward Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist for car, pedestrian, cycle and junction turning, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist.

    Other ADAS features include Blind-spot Collision Warning, Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Safe Exit Warning, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Following Assist, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Surround View Monitor and Blind-spot View Monitor.
