Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has introduced the Next Gen Tiago and Tiago.ev, giving the hatchback segment a major update in design, technology, safety and ownership value. According to the official press release, the new Tiago range is built on the trust of more than 7 lakh customers and is available across petrol, iCNG and electric powertrain options.

Tata Motors is positioning the new Tiago as a hatchback that offers more than basic mobility. The company highlights five major pillars for the new Tiago: WOW Looks, WOW Tech, WOW Choices, WOW Economics and WOW Safety. This means the car has been updated not only in appearance, but also in features, connected technology, EV ownership cost and safety equipment.

New Tata Tiago Price and Powertrain Options

The Next Gen Tiago petrol and iCNG range starts at ₹4.69 lakh. The Tiago.ev starts from ₹6.99 lakh for full ownership. Tata Motors has also introduced a Battery-as-a-Service option for the Tiago.ev, where the entry price starts at ₹4.69 lakh plus a battery EMI of ₹2.6 per kilometre. This makes the electric version more accessible for buyers who want a lower upfront cost.

The new Tiago is available with petrol, iCNG and EV options. For the petrol and iCNG versions, buyers get both manual and AMT transmission choices. The press release also mentions India’s first CNG AMT with twin-cylinder iCNG technology, which makes the Tiago a very important product in the CNG hatchback market.

    Design: WOW Looks

The Next Gen Tiago has been given a more stylish and modern design. Tata Motors says that both ICE and electric versions follow a shared futuristic design philosophy, but they are interpreted differently for different customer mindsets.

The petrol and iCNG Tiago get a stronger visual character with bolder surfaces, sharper details and a more confident stance. The Tiago.ev gets a more digitally progressive and clean exterior design, which gives it a modern EV identity.

Important exterior highlights include new colours such as Varanasi Vibrance, Dehradun Dew, Pangong Pulse and Sobo Surge. Varanasi Vibrance is exclusive to the ICE version, while Dehradun Dew is exclusive to the EV. The car also gets wider stance, taller proportions, stronger road presence, Lux Beam headlamps with LED DRLs, Halo Lightbar connected tail lamps and R15 diamond-cut dynamic alloy wheels.

    Interior and Cabin Features

Inside the cabin, the Next Gen Tiago gets a more premium and modern experience. The press release mentions a Fabricia Luxe dashboard with dual screens, SportLuxe steering wheel and Grand Tech Console. These features are designed to make the hatchback feel more premium than a regular entry-level car.

The cabin also gets an Ultra View 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual smartphone deck with wireless charger and iRA connectivity with more than 35 connected car features. For the Tiago.ev, Tata Motors also mentions a Zipfast 65W Type-C USB charger.

    Technology: WOW Tech

Tata Motors has focused strongly on technology in the Next Gen Tiago. The petrol and iCNG versions are built on the X-ALFA architecture and are described as bolder in design, richer in features and more engaging to drive. The company says that the new Tiago brings connected technology and immersive digital interfaces into a segment where such features were not commonly expected earlier.

The Tiago.ev gets an even stronger technology focus. The EV also gets enhanced fast charging capability, which can add 100 km of range in just 18 minutes.

    Tiago.ev Ownership: WOW Economics

One of the biggest highlights of the press release is the economics of the Tiago.ev. Tata Motors says the Tiago.ev is not just a car purchase but a financially smart mobility decision for regular city users. The company claims that lower running costs can help customers recover the vehicle’s ownership cost within a few years of usage.

Tata Motors also mentions that solar home charging can accelerate this cost recovery even further. The Tiago.ev gets a Lifetime HV Battery Warranty on the 24 kWh battery pack. In the press release, “Lifetime” refers to 15 years for the first owner from the first date of registration, as per the stated terms and conditions.

The Battery-as-a-Service option is another important step. Under this model, the Tiago.ev can be purchased at a lower starting price of ₹4.69 lakh with a battery EMI of ₹2.6 per kilometre. This can appeal to buyers who want to enter EV ownership with a lower initial investment.

    Powertrain Choices: WOW Choices

The Next Gen Tiago offers one of the widest powertrain and transmission choices in its segment. Buyers can choose petrol manual, petrol AMT, iCNG manual, iCNG AMT and EV. This makes the Tiago suitable for different usage patterns.

Petrol buyers can choose the car for normal family use and city driving. iCNG buyers can choose it for lower running cost. EV buyers can choose the Tiago.ev for silent driving, automatic convenience and reduced daily operating cost. Tata Motors has also made the EV practical by focusing on affordability rather than only increasing battery size.

    Safety: WOW Safety

Safety is another major focus area for the Next Gen Tiago. The press release mentions 90+ Tata Safety Dome, 360-degree Surround View HD Camera, Blind View Monitor, ESP with Traction Control, 6 standard airbags and automatic headlamps.

For the petrol and iCNG versions, Tata Motors says the new Tiago brings segment-first safety technology. The 360-degree surround view system and Blind View Display are designed to make city driving and tight parking easier. This can be especially useful for new drivers and families using the car in crowded urban areas.

The Tiago.ev also gets a comprehensive safety setup, including standard 6 airbags and electronic stability systems. Tata Motors says the EV’s safety features are designed to improve control and awareness, making it dependable as a primary vehicle.

Tiago vs Tiago.ev: Which One Should You Consider?

If your main need is an affordable hatchback with good features and familiar fuel options, the petrol Tiago is a practical choice. It starts at a lower price and is suitable for regular family usage.

If you want lower running cost but still want a fuel-based car, the iCNG Tiago can be a strong option. The availability of iCNG AMT makes it even more useful for city buyers who want CNG savings with automatic-style convenience.

If your usage is mostly within the city and you want to reduce running costs, the Tiago.ev becomes the most interesting option. It offers electric driving, fast charging that can add 100 km in 18 minutes, Lifetime HV Battery Warranty on the 24 kWh battery pack and flexible ownership through BaaS.

    Final Verdict

The Next Gen Tata Tiago and Tiago.ev represent a big update for the hatchback segment. Tata Motors has not limited the update to styling alone. The company has added important features like dual screens, connected technology, 360-degree camera, Blind View Monitor, wireless smartphone connectivity, 6 airbags and ESP with traction control.

The petrol and iCNG Tiago are suitable for buyers who want value, practicality and flexible fuel choices. The Tiago.ev is suitable for buyers who want an affordable electric hatchback with smart running cost, fast charging and long-term battery confidence. Overall, the Next Gen Tiago range is a strong option for Indian families looking for a safe, modern and feature-rich hatchback.
